Suggestions to Help with Morning Sickness

  • Before getting out of bed, eat several crackers; relax in bed for 10 minutes
  • Drink sips of liquid between meals
  • During the night, eat a cracker when you get up to go to the bathroom
  • Eat 4-5 small meals; allow good ventilation while cooking; do not drink fluids or eat soups at mealtime and do not overeat
  • Get up very slowly, avoiding sudden movements
  • Have plenty of fresh air in the bedroom
  • Keep crackers at bedside
  • Snack on crackers or toast
  • When you feel nauseated, sip a carbonated beverage or juice

Foods to Avoid with Morning Sickness
  • Any foods cooked with oil or grease
  • Fatty meats, like bacon and sausage
  • Gas-producing foods, like onions, radishes, beans, apples, cabbage, broccoli, melons
  • Spicy foods

Medication to Take When Nauseated

  • Vitamin B6 10-20 mg three times a day
  • If no improvement, ADD Unisom (doxylamine) 12.5mg three times a day
